Member Of The Month (February)
With the short month of February already passing us, it has brought about another edition of our regular 'Member Of The Month' (MOTM) award.
This is where we take stock of all of our clients efforts, both inside and outside of the gym to acknowledge the work they have been putting in. Too often we focus on the outcome, or the result we are chasing with training and forget the small (or big) accomplishments that have just taken place.
February has seen pretty much all of our regulars improve in some way, shape or form. From improving nutrition habits, training intensity or even just a more positive outlook and mindset. These are all aspects of life and training which can affect the end product, or goal.
This month, we want to recognise the intense and consistent efforts of...
Sarah has a good training history, having been exposed to a variety of different styles and various exercises. This means she has a good base to start from and well-developed movement patterns (technique).
This doesn't mean we haven't worked on honing form -- far from it. What it has done, is allowed us to experiment with some advanced exercises and training programs.
Currently, Sarah is working on Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 program, with a slight variation. This is to help get closer to her strength goals, while also improving her body composition (shape).
PLEASE NOTE- 5/3/1 is NOT for beginners! Sarah has very good form and has trained intensely for some time (solid foundation/base), which has allowed her to use this program.
We wanted to share this information as a way where you could research different programs, but also illustrate that you simply cannot just start up on a given program. You must 'earn the right' to perform certain exercises and designated weights.
The attitude that Sarah has towards her training is one that I would describe as 'serious'. In a VERY good way!
Quite often people can see exercise (or 'training', as I like to call it) as a chore, or something that they just 'have to do'. The approach Sarah has, is one of determination.
She leverages each and every session to help get closer to her goals.
Sure, we have a good time, discuss training and learn things along the way. But, Sarah knows, when it's time to train, we train. That is a very admirable quality to have! (Which can be developed, by the way)
This mindset and concentration on making each session effective and a stepping stone towards her goals has seen her make tremendous strides in her results.
We caught up with Sarah and asked her about her journey and training experience with us so far. You can view that below;
Q1- WHEN DID YOU FIRST START TRAINING WITH FULLA SC (MONTH/YEAR)?
A- 3rd January 2017
Q2- WHAT KEEPS BRINGING YOU BACK?
A- I love the variety of my training sessions. Jesse knows how to motivate me so I get the best out of my sessions. I’m learning lots at every session and am loving the results so far. I appreciate Jesse's focus on lifestyle outside the gym - small changes can yield big results.
Q3- WHAT RESULTS HAVE YOU ACHIEVED SO FAR?
A- My body composition is changing, which is awesome and I have seen big strength gains which is my primary focus of training. Lost a few KG's (of fat) along the way, which is always a nice bonus :)
Q4- WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 3 MONTHS (IN TERMS OF RESULTS)?
A- Hopefully more of the same - but you know, just excited to see where my training takes me!
Q5- WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE SERVICES PROVIDED AT FULLA SC?
A- I enjoy not only the results I’m achieving, but the partnership with Jesse as my coach. The online network with the Facebook peeps and the attention to detail in relation to technique when lifting -- to maximise results and minimise injury.
It has been a pleasure working with Sarah so far and we know that her strength will keep going up and this will result in further positive changes to her body shape.
A little bit of advice for anyone reading this.
Your training doesn't have to be complicated. It should be focused on performing the basics at a high level, doing them REALLY well and doing them often. This has been the key to Sarah's great start working with us.
Once again, congratulations on the award, Sarah. You deserve it and I know this will only spur you on to more results moving forwards.
Until next time,
Train simple and train consistently.
