3 Gym Rules To Live By

Ahhh... you walk into the gym these days and you can see a few different types of people straight off the bat.

You have your 'cardio' types, your meatheads and you have the small groups of guys who like to grunt and groan.

The video below details this to absolute perfection!

WARNING- There is some explicit language

That is all well and good to have different groups of clientele and trainees in a gym. In fact, it's very normal. Nothing wrong with any of that.

What you do need to realise and understand though, is that not every person understands some simple and basic gym etiquette/rules. This article is here to educate you on a few common do's and don'ts of the gym.

THESE can be used worldwide in any gym setting that you enter.

Below is a short  list of the 3 biggest gym rules that I feel you, and others need to be aware of so you don't make a fool of yourself, but more importantly - get the most out of your visit to the gym.

1. NO PHONES

In a day and age where everyone seems to be less than 3 feet away from a mobile device, it is almost impossible to find someone who doesn't own a mobile phone.

This doesn't mean that you need it in your hand, or pocket for every waking minute of the day/night. Does it?

Can you really not go 30-60 minutes without looking at your phone to check Facebook, or 'Snap' someone.

Come one, Really!?

When you are in the gym, put the phone away and just focus on your body. The phone will still be there when you get back.

2. USE A TOWEL

This one here for me is a no-brainer. But, for some people, they just feel like they don't need to follow this rule. Perhaps they feel they are special, or maybe they just 'don't sweat'.

Hmmm, keep telling yourself that!

The use of a sweat towel should be one of the easiest things to actually follow-through on!

If you don't own a 'sweat towel', use a beach towel. Just keep it simple, but keep the sweat off the bench.

No-one, and I do mean no-one, wants to lay on a bench that is covered full of someones fresh sweat!

3. YOU ARE THERE TO EXERCISE

Each gym will have a different a different focus point, or area of specialisiation. Whether it be CrossFit, Olympic Weightlifting, Body-weight training or even parkour!

One thing that they ALL have in common is the fact they require physical exertion. This is in essence a form of 'exercise'.

Most gyms will have a few people that slip through the cracks and not see major changes or results, for whatever reason. But, YOU have the power to make sure that you get good results.

You simply need to adopt the mindset that the gym is a place for exercise.

It isn't a place primarily designed for socialising and using the WiFi to check your emails. At least, it shouldn't be!

IF YOU ARE STILL UNSURE OF WHAT IT STANDS FOR AND WHAT IT'S PURPOSE IS. THIS IS IT!

If you got something out of this article and feel like others would benefit from it, please use the social media buttons below to share it forward. If someone doesn't know what they are doing is wrong, then they can't adjust, or fix it. One simple tip could change a person's gym life forever!

Until next time,

Stick to the gym rules.
